Specializing in the Suzuki Method

Learn perfect technique from the very beginning.
At Thompson's Music Studio students may learn violin, piano, guitar, viola, and cello with a teacher who has been teaching music effectively for over 30 years. Some voice lessons are available on a limited basis when you learn guitar.

> Learn Music Theory
Students may learn music theory in a fun and exciting way. The teacher plays musical games with the younger students and parents and siblings may join in on the fun.
> Recitals
At Thompson's Music, students will participate in two recitals per year. Students will recieve awards, trophies, and certificates for all of their accomplishments during a given semester. Students may also receive a medal for practicing 100 days in a row.
> What is it like to take lessons at Thompson's Music?
The teacher will give each student a list of assignments based on age and ability.. Students are encouraged to practice every single day. When a new student arrives at Thompson's Music Studio they are given a calendar and asked to use the calendar to mark each day that they practice. If they practice for one minute or longer they may mark their calendar for that day. If a student can't practice due to vacation or other situations they may practice a song in the air with their fingers. This is not how we want to practice every day, but it does help to create desire to practice every single day. It also creates muscle memory and when the fingers move they are still practicing if only with their muscles. Any student who practices 100 days in a row will receive a medal of honor at the next recital. This has amazing results with children and gives them a great feeling of accomplishment. The studio has a "three sticker rule," which means if a students earns three stickers at their lesson they may open the treasure box for a wonderful prize for their hard work. This creates so much desire in our students to learn more and more each week and at all of their practices.
